Wouldnt really apply to a wet liner engine. Its not like the heads and blocks are designed as matched sets, and seeing as this is a wet liner engine with variable protrusions there's loads more variables to take into account.
..and maybe use not as cheap head gaskets.

That's funny cos a minute ago you said

HOLD ON - I did nothing of the sort, I said that a pair of heads that came off an engine that was running perfectly well with no issues (and had been skimmed prior to fitting to that engine) was put onto another block that was equally good, caused problems.
How exactly do you "check a head to an engine"? Check they're both flat perhaps?

End of the day turbo has higher cylinder pressures, cylinder temps, water temps and oil temps - which all go past some part of the gasket at some point.
