Popping and banging

Has anyone who’s fitted a stainless steel exhaust from DG experienced any popping & banging during deceleration especially if you reapply the throttle?
Is it normal for a system with less back pressure to do this , and what’s the cause ?

No silencer so any overfueling has more chance of getting to the pipe ends Plenty Flameage :twisted:

One of the functions of the limit switch at zero throttle is to switch off the injectors when the revs are over a certain point (1500?). With the throttle just open a crack, or by unplugging the throttle switches, it'll do it constantly on overrun. The flames come from the short(er) exhaust with little or no baffling.

.....................but it helps first time you'll hear a man sy that :lol: the main thing is it needs to be straight through with as little restriction in the exhaust as possible. My 21 turbo has single box still spits flames and pops and bangs when slight throttle is given, however, its a standsrd length so no baffles makes a great difference.

I just wanted to know if this was expected on a straight thru exhaust.
Sounds like it's a yes.

Apart from this the car is standard so I cant imagine flames spitting out the back :)

I have the quad exit on mine from DG, what a sound!!!! I love all that "popping and banging" especially as you drive through tunnels with the windows down. There ought to be a RAOC trip through the Dartford tunnel! (then you could see the flames better too)

Nobody really mods their engines its all bolt ons and increase in boost, the things that make an engine really sound rorty torty are compression ratio, cam lift, timing also including igition, duration and of course anti lag :lol: :lol: :lol: oh and stand alone to match.

since there seems to be some kind of difficulty in producing cams for the even fire engine as I dont see many available, please correct me if I'm wrong :?: I am hoping that I am because people seem to rely soley on boost to raise their gain, this in turn melts the restrictive exhaust manifolds.

My 21 BOG STANDARD FROM RENO just a filter chip air cleaner and bleed valve single box straight thru' pops and crackles like a proper Rally Slag :twisted:

On the engine front not at all but as bolt on's:

K&N Filter
Stage II Turbo
Chargecooler (so no dump valve)
Stainless plenum hoses
Magnecor KV85 Leads

That's all it's getting too!!!!!!!

Mind you there are a few other bits on the suspension side (just don't tell the missus too much!!!!)
