Not the best drive

Postby Midlife » Sat Feb 16, 2008 7:12 pm

I took the Gta out of hibernation today as the weather was so good . After half an hour a serious misfire has developed followed by the top hose blowing . Loads of steam and frantic use of the mobile phone . Hose fixed i nursed the car home with a persistant mis-fire. Does anyone think the two are linked? Is the miss-fire the sign of head problems causing pressure to find the weakest link ( ie an old top hose ) . Any advise please . Otherwise the drive was superb - I even got out half way through to admire the new 610 light and rear grill conversion ,which looks superb . ( thanks Stephen)

Hello Clee . The car has been in a barn for the winter & started every two weeks . Early 2007 it was with DG for clutch and frame overhall . I requested all fluids be replaced. However colour of water on the road may suggest kevaldon spring. Who do you suggest for head work ?

Stunned Monkey is in your neck of the woods ...........It's not a major job if it's just the gasket .I'm sure he's got a few spares lying about if it's anything more involved .

You'll find thats the inherant issue of the old steel water pipes on the GTA which rust internally and colour the coolant. You can't remove the engine/box without having to replace the engine coolant, so after a year its probably about dark brown by now.
