Just dry fitting all the bits to the block .Mocal universal oil takeoff stuff all fits fine :shock: Went to put the oil light sender in and it wouldn't :? Had a look and it would appear the old unit had seized in and been drilled out leaving it's outer welded to the bore ???? Comparing it to the old lumps :roll:
There's only one type of sender isn't there ?Plunger type ?
Looks like I've got to clean the old seized block out and start again :roll:

I have had the EXACT same issue. I don't want to talk about it.

You noticed -before- you built the engine. :evil:

What happens is the plunger part of the unit pops off the switch part (that screws in) and the plunger gets stuck south of the threads. As long as the plunger is in the hole and can be moved with your finger, you can cap off the hole and the oil pressure will stay healthy. Put a hole in it and it all goes pete tong.

I tell you what there are some dodgy feckers about, you can't trust nobody anymore :oops: :oops:

Just glad you didn't get too far with it matey, as discussed if it aint repairable I'll sort you out fella. Your not having much luck are you, have you run over a Robin or summat :?: :?

It's not repairable Martin ,the plunger has been drilled through ,thats why I didn't notice when I had the gallery brushes up there to clean out .
Another coffee table awaits :idea: Bet Dell-boy would like one for his Penthouse apartment .

I can simply plug the offending hole and put a sensor in elsewhere :wink:
This ,SM would say is not possible :wink: and normally he'd be right ..................... don't do it if you can't spot the difference .God bless Renault and their little quirks :evil:

Nice one! I discovered the same on a late engine. Slightly puzzled as to whether the pressure switch will actually work in it though... but that's academic!

Got a 25t remote filter sender that will go in and should work ? It's not a plunger type .The hole is there to let the air out from behind the plunger otherwise it would not push back .

Can someone please have a look at the wiring on their car for the oil light sensor .I have no wire at all :? :lol: Where do it go to ?It'll be just one wire to the multi plugs on the drivers side engine compartment I think .Thanks .

I can confirm that a D502 does not use the pressure switch conector.

The pressure sender next to the oil filter on the GTA has two connections on it - I think it does both jobs. The DeLorean uses the pressure switch and the gauge sender has only one pin.

Mine doesn't :lol: I have the two pin sender near the oil filter .Two different size spades on it but the wires to it both have the same size females .They need to be a certain way round or I get no pressure reading .Not sure what's what ,but I would like a warning light this time ,but by the time it comes on it's probably too late anyway :roll:

Pretty much. They'll survive, say, low oil level and braking hard from high speed for long enough to turn the light on (ask me how I know :) )

Cos you didnt have much oil in the car, and you were braking hard from high speed... :lol:
