What I'll do then is compare Tonys new RH Le Mans ABS shaft with my new RH A610 ABS shaft and see if there is any difference at all.

The difference could just be something simple like the ABS ring is in a different position or maybe there is a hidden difference such as a stronger CV joint.

Will get to the bottom of it this week....

Hi Just measured both the 610 and the gta driveshafts.
The shaft is the same diameter, but the joints at both ends are about 5mm bigger on the 610. I haven't dismantled the GTA ones to see what this means for the bearings inside, but I guess the 610 ones are likely to be 2mm or so wider on the contact area.
Suspect either would be OK if you weren't competing, but this does mean the bits that go into the hub and the gearbox are larger on a 610 (and therefore the boots are 610 specific.....)

Oh joy

If the end is bigger, is the ABS ring a different fitment then?

Good question- I'll check - easy as the ABS ring on the 610 shaft is currently not attached and needs to be pressed back on. One for tonight.

Just checked- ABS rings are identical, so the shafts are interchangeable, just not the same.....

Have you checked the exact length, tip to end, and to face of CV joint as it meets the hub, as the 610 runs different hubs too, so there might be a difference.

Also while you are there, can you strip it down and run a metalurgy test for us too, chop chop....
