Warning light on dash

Hello campers

Red warning light has suddenly appeared on dash - one of the cluster that includes battery, handbrake etc.

The icon looks like a hairdryer so I suspect it is the turbo or something to do with it.

Appeared while car running, turbo still kicks in fine.

Car been off road for last 4 months just got it Mot etc and had plans for it over the weekend.

Any ideas.

Hot hot hot !! Engine bay temp warning light .This will come on every now and then even if your bay fans are working properly . Are they ? Best check .
Not a major issue normally ,it should go off after a while .If not ,pull over and let some heat out .

Hi Clee

That makes some sense now. Before Xmas we (my mech and I) were concerned that the fan kicked in and ran for ages after the engine was switched off, as a result my battery was forever being flattened. At least he put this forward as a possible reason. So we (in hindsight perhaps stupidly disconnected the fan) I had no trouble over xmas but perhaps as the weather is warmer now etc.

Mechanic thought plenty cooling when car was running

Should be easy cure, reconnect it.

Yes the fan will run for ages after switching off .It will switch off after 3 mins but will kick back in for another cycle time and time again .

Because car only going to be used weekends now and sunny days is there any way I can adjust the length of time this fan runs for. It is a pain in the b** when battery flat and have to charge before can take car out.

You probably can change the timing but I don't know how and it would still cycle as long as the bay is hot .There are two little sensors on a bracket near the turbo .These operate the fans and light and are easy to get to so you could always just pull the connectors .I don't think the fans will be running the battery down though if your bat and charging are healthy .More down to earth leakage if the car is left for any length of time .
If the car is in a secure place ,I'd just disconnect the battery during the week.You can get quick release bat clamps or even fit a isolator .
