Broken wire - Instrument cluster

Postby mitchella » Mon Jun 23, 2008 7:45 pm

Was replacing the bulb that lights up the fuel computer and noticed that one of the little wires was broken - no idea if I broke it or it was like that. Anyhow - I think I can see where it goes but just wondered if anyone had a cluster to hand and could confirm that I am correct in my thinking. The cluster is off a 89 model GTA turbo. The wire is yellow with a green stripe and goes from the little 12-way connector into the black shroud the covers the circuit boards behind the trip computer display. I think that this wire goes to the top circuit board of the trip computer and in the top left corner (as viewed from the back of the cluster) next to a blue wire. I'd be grateful if anyone could confirm that is roughy where it goes - or tell me where else it goes if thats not the case.

Just got back in from the garage. I had a look with a magnifying glass and saw a few strands of wire left where I thought the wire had broken from. Took a slight chance and soldered the wire there. Just finished putting the dash back in and I'm happy to report that I seem to have fixed it - and my petrol gauge once again reads the correct level which was the other reason for removing the dash.
