GTA Le Mans number 26.

Postby turbodog » Fri Sep 05, 2008 12:21 pm

The owner of this car has decided to sell it as he's not used it for over 10 years.
The car is one owner from new, always garaged, has 24,000 on the clock and comes with a set of leather seats as well as the original grey velour. Also included is a brand new set of Le Mans wheels still in their boxes !

He's looking for a figure of around £20,000. this seems a little high but i suppose if I'd paid £38,000 for this car new and I was the only owner and hadn't used it much, I would maybe ask similar.

If you give me a ring on 01492 533430 I'll put you in touch.

I just paid out close to this to build a replica it actually does not sound a bad price if its still in A1 condition and I still have a fair amount of work to do to finish her off once she is back from the sprayers.

24,000 is very low milage but then ther could be hydraulic issues clutch/brakes if it has been sitting so long.

And I dont care if it is a replica its for me to enjoy. Its built with all guenuine Renault panels apart from 1 ......so it did not come from the factory but it will be better than most originals on the road.

For instance I hear somebody bought one for £10,000 but spent a further £20,000 putting it into the condition they wanted so I dont believe I have done too badly really. It has cost me a lot less than a new one would have cost 15 years a go and it will look new now

The cost of the project includes buying the car plus brand new spax adjustable suspension, stainless exhaust, samco hoses, rebuilt gbox, all the susupension has been rebushed front and rear, new clutch, brakes, leather interior, I have forgotten more of the bits that I have bought new and replaced. The purchase of the body kit, a couple of 2nd hand panels with some repairs and the rest were brand new panels. I then wanted the panels fitted and painted! The cost of the kit, fitting and painting came/coming to about £8,000. Then there was £1500 on wheels and tyres which will hopefully fill the arches adequately. That means I spent £8,000 on the mechanicals and parts, £20000 in all.

It all depends what you started with and how much of it was usuable on the car.

I do laugh to myself , cry on occassion it started out as a £2,000 car plus a £1,000 to get it running

Having spent all this money with the the right people to do the job I am hoping for a stunning car. It easily adds up trust me

Si21and now I am paying for it  trust me and it still not finished yet

I don't see what the problem is in it being a replica. It's not a copy but a car based on the original base unit with genuine parts.

Some may get down with the value of the car if they came to sell it but he probably would nevver want to after that. I'm all for anyone who is doing what they can to keep these cars in good condition.

I've seen too many of our cars that are heading towards "beyond economic repair".

When time and funds allow I am hoping it will be ready for next season so to speak. There has been a lot of work done to the car I dont want to rush it just to finish it now.

It also depends on those pennies too as I ma trying to get the Atmo on the road as well
