It was short lived but I drove her
After a series of problems finally rectified after spending the morning under the beloved chariot I got it drivable ( please note that prior to the proving day she had started virtually on the button
and and ran ) until we came to load her up.
I Unloaded her and thats when the problems began
after various tests fuel spark etc decided it was just being a Renault
got her running and died a third of the way down the strip......
Thanks for the push guys
Once back at RHQ I found that I had major electricals ......a bad short. My Dad diagnosing the whereabouts of the problem; I got down and dirty though
It turned out to be the starter cable to the motor although in protective trunking had shorted through to wires that run under the heat sheild
The good news is that the short did not damage any electrics and once repaired the car ran and started on the button so I proceedd to take her for a lap.
After one lap, my first ever proper drive of a GTA I can confirm it was TRUE LOVE I proceeded to lift the pace taking a slow in (brakes need some bedding in and possibly some more bleeding) and quicker out route, progressivley pushing her harder I was stopped by people waiving frantically. I had burst the header tank
and disapeared in a sticky steamy cloud of vapour
Well that was the end of the driving day for me, very frustating, especially as Renault Lutterworth was only about 5 miles away had a tank in stock but would not release it, as they did not have means to conduct a sale; even if our local Renault dealer requested it
I can tell you though that I have a couple of lighting issues and few other bit and pieces to sort out but she wil be road legal soon and I just cant wait to get behind the wheel again.
Si21 You just gotta love that 3 ltr V6 push and growl from behind
