TDC CLOSE RATIO BOX, ratios?

Does anyone know what the ratios are on a genuine tdc box(ren 5 T2) :?: what sort of top speed? suppose it will be a long 1st with top acting as a sort of overdrive :roll:

isnt it about 95mph they are geared to. ratios will dig out the information somewhere i have it

Talk to Kevin, he was considering getting quaife to make up a qear set as per the TDC.

Think though that the top speed will remain the same as a normal 369 box, as I understood the change for the TDC box was in the 1st and 2nd cluster only.

The TDC box also may have had a C&P that was different from the norm (3.88-1), and in probability was a 4.11-1, this change would obviously lower your top speed.

something i found

largest possible crownwheel and pinion 9x35 (3.88:1)
options 8x35 (4.37:1) 9x31 (3.44:1)


gear ratios
1st 3.250;1
2nd 2.235:1
3rd 1.619:1
4th 1.250:1
5th 1.035:1

maximum speed at 7000 rpm in 5th gear
with 4.37:1 axle 110.6mph
with 3.88:1 axle 124.5mph

just out of intrest got some genuine magnesium tdc speedlines with reasonable tyres on em genuine not compomotive copies should you wish to spend lots of money :lol:

Thanks for the info. not as bad as i thought re; top speeds, suppose 7000rpm isnt overdoing it with a 1600??

Do these boxes go for lots of money? just cant help thinking it would be overkill maybe on a road car???and to my pocket :)

:shock: The deals done :shock: A TDC box going in. 3.88.1 crownwheel, so it looks like you lads with the GTA's will have to wait until 120 to get by me :D

Dont know whos :evil: me or our residents :? Anyone want to buy a nice RX7 :wink:
