Faulty Fuel Gauge

Postby AndyClark » Mon Feb 21, 2005 11:45 am

This should come as no surprise!!

The fuel gauge and speedo on my GTA atmo have both stopped working.I can switch between modes on the trip computer, but it doesn't read mpg/ av speed etc. The fuel gauge is 'stuck' and doesn't fall in it's reading.

The car has hardly been used over the Autumn/Winter, but is garaged dry and regularly started and moved. For both speedo and fuel gauge to fail at the same time suggests a common fault. Apart from checking and cleaning relevant connections/wires, does anyone have any ideas? Could the circuit board for the flow meter be to blame for the faulty fuel gauge?

Try resetting the battery, and afterwards holding down the trip change button for 5 seconds to rectify the non dropping fuel level. The MPG and av.speed settings wont sort them selves out until the speedo is fixed though, as it works its readings off that..
