Wanted: Temperature or thermal switch

Postby Juzzblack » Wed Feb 23, 2005 10:50 pm

I'm after what the manual labels as a: 'Temperature or thermal switch', for a GTA Turbo. It's screwed into the right hand side (standing at the back of the car, facing the direction of travel) of the thermostat housing. Does anyone have one they could sell me, or does anyone know the size and spec, if it's possible to buy from a motor factors?

Cheers.

I've bought lots of parts off Renault dealers, but I find they're expensive and usually slow. Most parts seem to go on back order and take weeks! So thought I'd see if I could obtain it quicker and more cheaply first.

maybe try a new dealer. i find they are very helpful in belfast, maybe thats because i normally have the part number that i need for them, also i have found that if you do not ask for discount then you don't get it!!

I ordered on last week. It cost 15 quid and was ready to collect the next day. This was from a Renault dealer... Can't say fairer than that!

Is Williams still the dealer in your area?

Yeah, AC Williams. You have to check with them that they have ordered the right part, but apart from that, there pretty good...

15 quid is pretty fair. If that's the case, then I probably will order one from Renault. It was just, the last time I got a quote for the two temp sensors which face the turbo heat shield, I was quoted 70-odd and 90-odd pounds! I was expecting something equally daft fot this.

They've been a Renault family Garage for years. One of them (david I think) rallied an A110 in the 70s.
Unfortunatley Renault now want their dealer to be run like supermarkets and have put most of the longstanding dealers out of business or swapping manufacturers... :?
