New member would like GTA Turbo advice on Le Mans wheels

Postby V8 Martin » Fri Jan 16, 2009 2:56 pm

Hi everyone,

First time of posting on your very useful site, so hello.

I've got a little bit of history with Renaults having owned and loved a R21 Turbo Quadra for quite a while in the mid-90's.

Now I'm looking for a GTA and have been offered a GTA Turbo that looks nice. Needs headlamp covers (£500 job?), but has also been fitted with Le Mans BBS wheels.

I read that these are not the correct offset for a GTA and wondered, is this a problem in use?

It could also do with the drivers seat (cloth) being refurbed - does anyone know if this can be done to look original?

And what should I be paying privately for a car on about 85k miles, with Renault & more recently specialist history?

Thanks for any help, Martin

It's got a black interior - so if I get it your mint seat would be great.

Thanks for the offer, I'll let you know how I get on...

If it's the '93 gold car they're not Le Mans rims, they are compomotive copies in the correct offset for a standard GTA.

If it's not the gold car and they are BBS wheels and are 15" they are also not le Mans wheels, but most likely the OEM option in the correct offset for the standard car.

If neither of the above then then may be genuine le mans wheels...

Is this the car you are after ? If you look closely at the wheels, they are not Le Mans wheels, but close copies. It's a nice looking car so I hope you get it.

The car is registered as a '93 but is in fact a lot earlier, so some dealer must have had it stashed for a while.

If it's the original GOLD it's super rare on a GTA, they were the last of the production line I think only 100 made...... what you reckon Mr Dell? remember the atmo I had?

My atmo which started life in gold then some idiot painted it pea green and then it was painted red.

Like those wheels, do they still make them?

There was a run of about 10 near the end of production, but the car advertised could be a respray.

Check out the paint code under the bonnet near the headlamps. Should be Champagne Beige 132 if genuine/original.

This is a photo of a standard GTA Turbo fitted with Le Mans wheels. If you look closely, the rear wheels don't look too bad, but if you look at the front you will notice that they extend some way past the bodywork.
