Postby si21 » Thu Jan 29, 2009 4:40 pm

Alp not Renault .....but then Mr D got all lentil-knitting and added a few
I wasn't dissing the 21 anyways .It's fine ,sailed through it's MOT and just needs a couple of turbo bolts replacing and the power steering leak fixing .
It's a good fast motorway cruiser that's 8) er than many a modern piece of kit .

Yah the 21 may produce more power but then Dellboys got 60bhp more than me and I'as still avin im innit Aiiiiii seen ,seen :!:
I haven't spent any money on the 21 but the last guy spent over £5000 chipped/turbo etc etc etc 8)

PS what you moaning about then any way. So you have not spent any money on the 21 so cheap they are giving em away now

Power to weight I know a stripped 21 turbo with 250bhp that could run a Qrt in 13.2 only 2wd used to take on M5's

si21 - 212 bhp £140 exhaust £30 filter £3.00 bleed nipple £100 chip and a 37 bhp increase = £7.38 per BHP 8)

.........is carrying 50% of the GTA's weight again and he's not producing %50% more power of a GTA's power or aproximatley 33% in fact with your car in mind about 25%

Best tuning mod with reliability 3 ltr 275 BHP no hassle and it will do it all day long no probs....thats the route I will be taking

Should see about 300 with stand on ya own and some extra boost say 18psi; Thats not on the 24 valver either if Im ever get round to it

si21 Talk is cheap ......just as well I am skint bloody Ruin you's

Do your math again ...Blimey ,i've lost 40 kilos from the GTA and the 610's power to weight is more than than that .
610 1420 kg
GTA 1180 KG
I makes that 240 so 25% and the same bhp increase in std form .
285bhp Dell ? 220 ?clee

off the line not great no but if you look at my teminal speed its quicker through the mid range it definately makes up a lot somewhere once rolling just as well it/I am not quick off the line. In fact with the extra power and torque its harder to launch off the line I think it was quicker with less boost off the line TBH

developing the car for more power as I feel 212 is too much already would rather put my money into something that has the capability of traction off the line. lets face it I lose best part of one second off the line to a GTA based on my perfromance off the line  in a sprint/H climb thats a lot of time to get back. I tried 2nd gear in an effort to get off the line in the wet a Prescot all I got now though is a slippery clutch    and a big job to do

si21 that Quadra I got well thats a different kettle tho'

I think you and me must have very different ideas about what hassle means then!

Best Alpine must be the GTA turbo, A110, A310, 5 Turbo, and basically any Alp before the GTA are built from air-fix quality plastic and generally cheap and nasty Renault parts bin. Yes they look good and are fast but too much a labour of love for me. A610 got a bit lardy and they rot too and the purity of the GTA shape is lost. Sorry if that seems a bit harsh
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

No Tony no hassel standard lump let you guys dicover all the pitfalls once you have discovered them I then know what to do to avoid them

Thats always the problems when developing the a car when nobodies done it before. Having said that I meant once it was up and running doing the conversion and getting it running will always be hassel but once solved I meant the engine is not overly complicated or stressed. 610's aare basicsally reliable are they not.

I just think on top of the hassel you had a lot of bad luck TBH Tony.

Where are you at with yours anyway its being done now isnt it or is it done?

I agree Tony I have to say the 610 is my least favourite looking dont do pop up headlights for a start cant abide them. But the power plant in the GTA with a lemans kit this is what they should have called the 610 in my own opinion

I'll say it once and I'll say it again .....Ooopps already have

A610 's do have rust issues, but so do GTA's (door pillars especially). I'm not sure there is a clear winner here on rot (but I'm biased of course, as are we all).
The weight of the 610 is down to more metal (for crash resistance) A/C and ABS as well as PAS.
The Le MAns must weigh more than the std car.
I wonder what an A/C, ABS le Mans weighs? I'd think the gap to a 610 will be narrowed a lot?
Aesthetics..., I think the Le Mans is the best looking outside, but the 610 is best looking inside and that is my usual perspective, but its all preference isn't it.

I'm biased but I prefer the back of the A610 especially (although its very much an Alpine and closely related to the GTA but more angular which I personally prefer to the rounded look of the GTA). The pop-up headlights are either love 'em or hate 'em. I love 'em and get lots of comments how cool they are although I would admit the front is a bit bland when the lights are away. I think the A610 is the car that most has the look of supercar about it, maybe pushed by the LeMans. As for reliability, mine has nearly 120k on it which I don't see many Ferrari's/Lambo's etc of the era ever seeing and certainly not without MEGA investment. The fact that the A610's performance is easily accessible, the fuel consumption is amazing and the general costs are low compared to the competition also helps its case.

It is all about preferences though. Enjoy your own car. They are all rare and fine looking motors. :D
