Sorry Richard, that was aimed at David, but I'm sure he'll agree with you!

'Shafted' I think the expression was

It may be those drive shaft prices are wrong on the parts disc?? as I was board at work today and decided to look up some parts for my own car and it went like this.
item Jan price Feb price
rear bumper £120 £1290.00
oil breather £15 £109
rocker shaft
filter £4.50 £440

So there may be one or two mistakes with the pricing   plus my car doesn't have any spark plugs :? :?

Fluctuations.

Postby Tony Smith » Sun Feb 27, 2005 3:57 pm

I think the prices fluctuate according to the stock levels at Renault. As a car gets older I assume they keep less stock - as there are less of the cars to maintain. When they reduce the stock level they sell of the excess stock at a reduced price. I paid £85 + VAT for a 21 turbo front bumper last year, they were about £700 10 years ago. Now back up to about £300 I think.
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

I generaly keep a close eye on the prices for my car so I can buy any bits that I need whilst they are cheap!!!! :? But for a bumper to rise buy 10 times of it`s previous value can not be correct even with supply & demand been low. The only other thing I can think of is that someone misplaced the decimal point by one place when doing price changes and not checking for mistakes, like they did with interior light bulbs for the master van couple of years ago (parts guy ordered 20 at over two grand in total OOPs!)
I will double check with RUK tomorrow and if no joy have to wait until the next price update mid to late March then we will know for sure

How strong are the drive shafts on GTAs? With all the talk of tuning, I wondered, does it take much to push them to failure?

Is it possible to replace GTA drive shafts with A610 ones? These are uprated aren't they?
GTA V6 Turbo - BTW check your earths!

Yes, 610 ones are thicker, but the GTA ones have never been known to shear. Joints will go before the shafts will..

..if I remember rightly, the pressed casings are sealed so to get at the internals you have to rip them apart. Its been known on worn driveshafts for the joint to dent the casing from the inside too..
