GTA Paint Colours/Codes

Postby AndyClark » Sat Dec 11, 2004 12:30 pm

My 1990 GTA atmo (blue) has a paint code of 485. Does anyone know if this was a special order colour (its similar to alpine blue) and what its called? Im looking for touch up paint for it. Can anyone help?

Are you reading the paint code from the car or from the service book?

Well you're definately looking in the right place, but I don't recognise the code.

I had a couple of other mystery codes but it turned out they were being read upside down, no chance of that with yours though.

Will have to check my books when I'm back in the UK

I now need your assistance as well Steve  The new GTA has a 485 paint code the same as Andy's. It is definately correct as I have double checked.

It's slightly darker than Alpine Blue but not as dark as my car (449 Sports Blue).

Obviously a very rare colour as it's the only one I have seen. Special Order I presume?

It's similar to this "Electric Blue" colour for the T2

Is your similar to this Andy?

Yes, that R5 looks a similar colour - except for the front spoiler and skirts. Will try to google @Renault Espace paint codes'. Paint code 485 is definately no longer available from Renault as a touch up pencil - no surprise there!

After a quick search on Google.fr...... 8)

http://www.renault-5.net/alpine_special.htm

Gordini colour then :D

Also used on the T2 from 1984. Not sure why they used it on GTA's 6 years later though :?

Strange perhaps they were customer special orders or they had a load of paint left they came across. The GTA version of Alpine Blue was normally 488, but with Alpine in the 80's pretty much anything went if they had the parts on the shelf. Look at some of the oddball trim combos that crop up.
