Turbo actuator

Postby Miles » Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:18 pm

My turbo,
Is overswinging wildly, I have shortened the actuator rod.
its worse now, beleve actuator to be shot. To that end what actuator do i need to buy to replace and improve existing.
Running adaptronic, would like it to hold around 13.5psi.
Have a nice day.

Shortening the rod will increase boost.

The stated figure is the upper limit.

(I haven't done any research as to whether this is a good price or not - cheaper actuators are available from the US)

You can compensate by putting in a boost controller in- gated being the best i believe. Then it will hold whatever you like :D :D

Speak to Adam Leigh here
http://www.turbodevelopments.co.uk/

or you can have one of my old std actuators ..Main pain with the aftermarket ones is you have to make them fit the std actuator's bracket , the std acts are spot welded to the bracket ..... don't bin the std one without removing the bracket ......

I wouldn't go faffing too much with the boost unless you can monitor and adjust fuel .I've got a manual one way valve that is basically just a ball bearing and spring ,not a bleed as such .It helps when tuning as you don't burn fingers shortening rods
As soon as I know exactly where my boost wants to be I'll set the actuator and leave it on just that ......

Actuator rod

Postby Miles » Tue Mar 03, 2009 8:00 pm

So what is the answer here.
Do you shorten the rod or lengthen the rod?
Regarding boost controller, I have one fitted that works well.
But you still need to stop the overswing via a mechanical device.
I believe but im no expert.

Shorten rod to increase boost .
If you're running it with that boost controller have you checked that is OK ?
