Help please. Next on the list of jobs...

Postby mellowyellowa610 » Tue Oct 07, 2008 9:54 pm

....is the brakes. Need to change the perished flexi hoses front and rear. Have got the rear ones from Renault but the longer front hoses are no longer available and the rear ones aren't long enough to use on the front. Also need 4 of the brake pipe retaining plate's/springs (if that makes sense!). Any of you guys know of any available somewhere in the UK or is SIMON AUTOS the best place to try?

Thanks in advance, John

I can recommend Brakes International as helpful and offering good service. They list A610 pads, calipers and reseal kits.

Rochdale 01706 666999
Bolton 01204 385888

They don't list A610 hoses at all on their website, but if you call they will do their best to help- and then may be they will add the hoses to the web site!
Alternatively there are people on ebay that will make you up a set of braided hoses for around £40-50 a set.
If you do find out where to get the springy retainer pieces (or get a part number from Brakes international) I need a couple too, so please let me know.
Cheers
Lee

John

The retaining springs are a common Renault part but the number has changed from that in the parts manual. You will see the original clip on page 37.80.1 in the manual under part number 7700705561 - that number has changed to 8200646065 and is readily available, listed at £1. Most dealers should have some in stock.

Andreas Simon (Simon Autos) do list sets of hoses for the A610 (and I think will sell them separately) but if you are after other brake seals, such as caliper sliding pin seals, boots for the handbrake assemblies on the rear calipers, or even caliper pistons (and seals of course), then they are all available from Bigg Red Calipers (www.biggred.co.uk). Phone no is 01905428793 - speak to John. Can't remember all their prices but they were a fraction of other supplier's quoted prices. For instance the handbrake assembly cover (boot) for the rear caliper was about £4.50 which I thought very reasonable. The most expensive items I have bought have been new rear caliper pistons at £24 each. To get the right parts, John will need the casting number on the caliper body, I think it's a 5 or 6 digit number (have the rears written down at home if you need any further help).

Hope this helps

Paul

Yeh, not sure why I did it like that actually!

Contacted Simon Auto and he responded within 5 minutes of sending the e-mail with details of the part number for the flexi hoses. Remains to be seen how long it takes to receive them. The changed part number for the retaining plates was also correct so thanks for that.

Cheers for the help guys,

John ;-)

Does anyone know of a source of A610 front braided hoses?
A couple of places- (Goodridge) do the GTA sets- which are the same at the back, but I don't seem to be able to find A610 fronts?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I use a hydraulics company to make my braided DeLorean hoses - they'll be able to copy if someone has a spare?

Simon Auto's do a set of braided hoses although I don't know how much they cost or whether he will sell them seperately.

"Stahlflex" brake hoses for Renault Alpine A610 (D503)
In cooporation with one of the biggest supplier for brake hydraulics (Lucas-Girling) this special product could be realized.

Here are the advantages:

- better braking effect
- no fading
- long-life (high-grade steel)
- 250 bar testing pressure for each brake hose
- TÜV approved

All necessary clamps and washers are incl.

- A610 (503), Order-Nr. 131088

I'm trying to get them (Goodridge) to add these to the range at the moment.

I have applied for a club account and am waiting to hear back.

BTW it looks like the club Magnecor account application has gone through OK. Just waiting on prices.

OK, I can hold off a few weeks, the current ones are still OK, but I have to open the circuit up to sort out a rear hose, so I though I'd do them all at once.
Do you think a Goodridge A610 set is imminent?

Cheers

Assuming they approve the account application I can't see why not!
