Heat

Postby pgoldsmith » Fri Jul 03, 2009 12:38 pm

I know heat dissipation from these cars has always been an issue.
However, I was looking underneath the front of my GTA recently as I wanted to check out the state of steering arm gaiters.

Whilst on my knees I notice that the front of the radiator is (obviously) free to take in fresh air, but there doesn’t appear to be any clear route for the air coming away from the rad
I’m I missing something here :?:

Also, I checked out the parts diagram which details a 'rad scoop' , is this fitted in front of the rad? If it is then I dont appear to have one. I wonder if this would make any difference to running temps.

The rad scoop will make a big difference .I have one going spare
It won't fit mine anymore as I've put a double capacity rad on .

I know what you mean about the exit though ,it does seems to hit a wall so I'm going to cut a big hole out of the undertray and see if that helps the flow.
Not really needed it before with the Big Rad but now it's got a lot bigger turbo on and running 20 psi it is starting to get very warm again on track .
It will cool down pretty quickly if I take it easy for a lap or two so the rad is doing it's job fairly well .

Is the scoop located at the base of the rad ?
