Insurance

Postby pgoldsmith » Tue Jul 28, 2009 7:40 pm

I know this subject has been done to death, but...

Quick question, several of you I know have multiple cars. Hence, how do you get on when insuring them and any NCD?

Reason being, I was told today that if I have one car on one policy then unless my second car is taken out with the same insurer I need to go back to 0% NCD on the second car :?
Whats that all about. Surely I'm the insured and carry the risk hence any NCD should remain with me as a driver with as many vehicles as I choose to own :?:

Can you expand a little on R&H, I've found an insurer called H&R, but not the former....
Thanks

I had the same issue years ago - you have to build up NCD per car, not per driver - and went with Aon classic. They told me that they don't do NCDs but realised that owners of classics (modern ones, too!) looked after them etc and I got a 3000 miles per year deal that was better than the others I'd tried with an NCD. They also reckon that if you decide to move to another insurer, they would give you a confirmation of no claims in the last so-many years to get an NCD with another insurer. Stuck with them for about 8 years, now.

Most classic car policies don't require any no claims bonus as they are usually a second car.

Any difference to the premium is usually minimal as a result.
