RAOC Tour of North Wales 15th & 16th August 2009 - FULL ROUTE

Organised by the Club's North West Coordinators this is becoming a very popular event. It takes in some great driving roads including parts of the EVO test triangle and a private closed road hillclimb into the mountains.

Combine that with a few tourist attractions for some sightseeing and fantastic award winning pubs for meals and it makes for a very enjoyable weekend.

We now have the full Itinerary for Saturday 15th August & Sunday 16th August

SATURDAY 15th AUGUST

START: All to meet at the Plough in St Asaph at 10am.
The Roe, St. Asaph. Clwyd. LL17 0LU

After coffee and a natter, we leave for Denbigh and up onto the moors heading for Cerrigydrudion.

Then onto Bala and take the road towards Trawsfynedd turning off halfway along onto the moors heading for Ffestiniog and then onto Portmeirion for lunch at Caffi Glas.

The Ship Inn is an Olde Worlde Inn set in a stunning location right on the shore of Red Wharf Bay near Benllech on the northeast coast of Anglesey, North Wales.

From here we head on the A498 and A4086 to Capel Curig. Then the A5 heading towards Betws y Coed but we turn left immediately past the Ugly House and head up a single track road up to Nant BH and through the Gwydir forest down to Llanrwst. There we join the B5106 and head down to Tyn y Groes and stop for Sunday lunch in the Groes Inn.

Great to meet you all - I'm definitely heading towards Alpine ownership now! All the cars were great but a special mention for the yellow Atmo with that exhaust noise! Hope the rain cleared up - see you all soon

Glad I drove out to meet up with you today. Good to meet one or two new faces and blow the cobwebs off my car. Particularly enjoyed the blast home in mini-convoy with BIG 'not so Captain slow' MVS ! :D

Well that was a really enjoyable weekend despite not doing the Tour in the Alpine. Good to meet a few more new people (well done to the long distance guys) and the whole weekend was fantastically organised by Andrew so a big thank you. :D

A great big thank you to all concerned in the organisation and execution of the Walles 2009 Tour. Great scenery and splendid venues enhanced by having it over 2 days.

Thanks for that Ray  I do declare I have more Chins than a Chinese Address book  Diet me thinks!

Yes really enjoyed giving my GTA it's first real thrashing really since I got it. A BIG THANKS to Andrew for organising everything and booking all the venues, cheers mate! Also to JohnC for making the effort at great expense to join us, get that carb setup correctly for gawds sake! (just kidding)
