Well im well up for it.

Just got a quote with Adrian Flux insurance and they asked me if I was a member of any clubs, I told them about this one and that it was free, but I think we need to make this club a more powerfull force so to speak.

A bit more recognised, but only for those who want the extra's. The forums should still be free though.

Stephen,

In principle it sounds like a good idea. I'm hope you know all about what you might be letting yourself in for. Would it not be easier to form a sub-group of CAR, as this would avoid all the legal stuff and bank accounts etc. etc as they already exist. Such a GTA/610 enthusiasts sub-group can just piggy back onto the main CAR AGM etc. That's all assuming that the CAR would like this sort or thing and is able to corespond with you ??? ??? ???

Club advantages for me would include speialist insurance, discount from Renault dealers, Alpine specilists, tuning specialists, and a selection of tuning/performance product outlets. Otherwise the services of this web site are invaluable. Well done and keep up the good work.

I'm not sure how much notice you can (or should) take of me, Bearing in mind that I don't have a GTA or A610 (just an A110 and 2 A310s). But I think the workload etc of setting up a new club would make it a far more sensible idea to either shake up CAR (at the next AGM) or run as a sub-section under the Renault Owners Club.

I'm not in favour of watering down the Renault/Alpine clubs and feel that they all could have been done under 1 umbrella club (like the ROC) which would then have a far stronger position with event/show organisers, Magazines and Parts re-manufacturers.

But there's no doubt that GTA and A610s owners needs are not being serviced by CAR.

can i join in my turbo 2?

i was going to join C.A.R.

but changed my mind due to alot i've read about the club, seems a step back in time

i'm also in R.O.C (renault owners club) and thats getting worse, good mag, but if you turn up to meets in anything but a mint R4 or R12 you don't get seen - like how can you miss a TURBO 2 or track prep's 5 gordini or a flame spitting 21 quadra :twisted:

maybe you could look at becoming an enthuiasts (sorry can't spell i'm welsh!) site for All the alpine range, i'm sure if other people feel the same about CAR you'll have a excellent club on your hands here!!

There has been a big change in the ROC team, so hopefully It'll be better at Duxford.

Well I'm a member of CAR and Also the Matra Enthusiasts Club ( I own 2 Bagheeras )

I own an A610 and whilst it's 'light' in CAR that's up to us A610 amd GTA owners to change that.

The A610 registrar is always on at me to compete the A610 as he has done but it's too far from Scotland :( Or that's my current excuse). But I recognise that if I want more A610 then I need to put the effort in.

A 'new' club would have little benefit.
If only A610 and GTAs then it won't have the numbere to attract decent discounts.

I've never bothered with ROC as I'm proud of the Alpine heritage which is generally ignored as they do with the Matra construction of the Espace :(

Another reason CAR is a plus for me is I do aspire to owning an A110 for post-historic rallying. This may not appeal to others the same.

The matra club suffered from some disagreements and attempts to form splinter clubs. None really worked. It's best to contribute from within and seek/drive change than form something anew with smaller numbers. For A610 help, the 2 main Alpine garages listed in the clib mag are VERY helpful and willing to assist me as I service and repair mine. Would I get the same if NOT a memeber of CAR ? Dont' know....

I am a committee member of the Renault Owners Club. If you are serious about associating with the ROC then I'm sure we will not have a problem with it. Lets join forces not work against each other, united we stand, together we promote the brand!

The ROC new committee members have worked very hard since being elected in April and the club is going from strength to strength and we have some exciting events already being organised for next year. In fact I have been in discussion today with Rockingham (Days of Thunder) circuit in Northamptonshire and have the green light for the ROC to be part of their August 2005 Days of Thunder (ASCAR) event. This will mean that between races we will be able to have a parade lap round the 1.3 mile oval in front of up to 55000 people! Also C4 TV and Sky will be filming so defo not an event to miss if you want to show your Alpines off to the UK/World! Renault UK are going to be approached also for support with this event so it promises to be a good one! Details will be released in our (award winning) club mag just before Christmas. Other mega events in the pipeline....

Your responses welcome, I can also speak to the chairman at our next meeting or sooner if response is good.

PS can anyone sort my no sparks/injector problem! as I'm not missing Rockingham next August!!!!!!!

Personally I think we would be better to remain within CAR in some form, it is really important to maintain the Alpine heritage rather than to be diluted into the ROC (no offence meant to them at all), Stephen must be forced (!) to offer himself to the committee and be supported by us, the Committee are always asking us what we want and get very little feedback from members (myself included) . The beauty of this site is that everything and everyone are so accessible, why has no-one thought of putting manuals on line before, amazing.
I don't see any particular benefit in becoming a splinter group, why not organise things with the backing of an MSA approved club (CAR) which gives a lot more credibility.They already organise a couple of track days at minimal cost, the spped championship is also there for those that want to but turnout is usually low. If that is what floats yer boat then we just need to demonstrate it to the committee and it will happen.

Having just read the response Stephen has had to his letter to the committee I am pretty shocked actually.
It has certainly changed my view, especially in the light of Tony's comments as well.
I wonder how difficult (and expensive) it would be to open up this site (and the poss of a club) to other allied Dieppe cars, so that it looks like the Breaute forum site catering for all models...

There is a big problem with motor clubs nationally in that most for classic makes are in decline. If you fragment an already quite small group of cars you risk ending up with no clout at all. Alpine as a marque is surely enough in itself. I can be interested in an A110 as much as my A610 and I accept that they give a different type of enjoyment. I like driving my 1969 British V8 just as much as my A610 but for entirely different reasons. Take care with what you do! :(
