Atmo Spark Plugs

Can anyone tell me the correct NGK spark plug for an atmo?

John,

Thanks. Since posting and before reading your reply I had a look on the Sparkplugs.co.uk website and they list the Champion S6YC for the GTA and when cross referenced with NGK it comes up with BP7EFS. Any comments?.

Trevor,

The difference between the 6 & 7 is either a hotter or colder plug, but I ca`nt remember which way round it is (ie:- higher No...hotter or colder).
I have been using the BP6EFS since the Alp was new 20 years ago with no problems at all, but then others might have a different view on this. :wink:

A "7" is a slightly colder plug in an NGK.
GTA V6 Turbo
Renault 4CV 16TS Power
BMW 2002 Tii M3 Power

The 6 and 7 refers to a 0.6 and 0.7mm plug gap respectively as far as I know.

Nope ,it's def the higher the number the colder the plug .

Yes ...

But ....I think the basic code sequence is the same for others ...ie the gap is the last number in the code,heat in the middle innit .

Just for clarification, the original plugs fitted to the Atmo by Alpine were EYQUEM plugs, type 803LJS, and the direct equivelant NGK, according to Sparkplugs.co.uk is .....wait for it......BP6EFS. :lol: :lol: :lol:
I was convinced that I did my homework back in 1990 :wink:
PS, When you say you looked up plugs for the GTA, remember the plugs are different for the Turbo, which are:- EYQUEM...805LJS which are in fact .....BP7EFS :D

Thanks all,

If you look on Sparkplugs.co.uk they dont list the GTA under the NGK search only the 610. Did a search on the Champion which did list the GTA 2.9 and then cross referenced that plug with the NGK on the same site and it came up with the 7.
Anyone know the correct gap?
