HERITAGE TROPHIES 2005 / RENAULT WORLD SERIES

Postby stephendell » Tue Mar 15, 2005 5:40 pm

Anyone fancy collecting a few trophies this year...

The general idea is to attend as many WSR events as possible in your Alpine or sporting Renault (10 Euros per event) and collect trophies and prizes on a sliding scale. See below for full details.

According to Renault, Zolder and Le Mans are the big ones. Donington should be easy enough. So that's a silver trophy if you can make all three. Gold would be much tougher!

World Series by Renault (WSR) 2005 programme

April 30 & May 1 – Zolder, Belgium
June 4 & 5 – Valencia, Spain
July 9 & 10 – Bugatti Le Mans, France
July 16 & 17 – Bilbao, Spain
August 6 & 7 – Oschersleben, Germany
September 10 & 11– Donington, UK
October 1 & 2 – Estoril, Portugal
October 22 & 23 – Monza, Italy

Heritage Trophies 2005

The Heritage Trophies programme is making its first appearance in 2005, with bronze, silver and gold trophies (along with many other prizes) to reward Renault collectors who make outstanding contributions to the World Series by Renault (WSR) programme.

Content of WSR events

WSR events are two-day all-Renault events open to the public. They are held once a year in each country, at a major European racetrack venue. Event content varies from country to country, under the following major themes:

– Contemporary competitions (Mégane Trophy, Formula 2000, etc.) based on national championships
– Demonstrations of Renault F1 Team
– Demonstrations of Renault Collection vehicles
– Special features and exhibitions
– Collectors’ exhibitions and parades

Contribution of Renault Heritage Department to WSR events

– Exceptional exhibitions (F1, concepts cars, cabriolets, 105 years of Renault, etc.)
– Dynamic vehicle demonstrations
– Collectors’ meetings and exhibitions
– Collectors’ parades

Services available to collectors

– Vehicle exhibition at closed park
– Access to all features
– Parade with collection vehicle
– Heritage welcome bag
– Special rally plate for each track

The 2005 trophy award ceremony will be held at an exclusive venue toward the end of the year.

Rules

1 – Trophy enrolment conditions

Enrolment is strictly personal, with vehicles of the collector’s choice. Trophy ratings are determined by the number of personal entries at WSR events. Collectors can enter with different cars at different WSR events throughout the 2005 season.

2 – Events

Trophies are awarded solely on the basis of involvement in events listed in the 2005 WSR programme. Participation in other events will not be taken into account for trophy award purposes.

3 – Eligible collection vehicles

Pre-1970 Renault models
Renault Sport models
Alpine models
Approved sports derivative models, by special application
All vehicles must be in perfect presentation condition.

OK

I'm now considering a day trip to the Zolder event via Eurotunnel. Cost will be approx £50 inc ticket and registration.

Is any one else up for this?

so in order to get the tickets, another four meetings required!...
Le Mans (fairly easy), Bilbao (via Santander)?, Donnington (easy), Estoril in Oct (also via Santander), or the German one in August.
If you go to Estoril for the week, the following weekend is a big historic race meeting...

CAR Ltd

Postby rupert » Mon May 23, 2005 9:43 am

I see that CAR will be paying the registration costs for the Donington event... might give us a chance to recover some of our sub's....
The newsletter today also says that they haven't bothered organising a spped championship this year but will pay back £20 to anyone who enters a sprint... PeterG could make a few quid here!
What is Mr Dell's opinion of this?

I haven't seen the newsletter yet so can't really comment on the finer details, but it obviously sounds like a good deal for CAR members at Donington. Registration is worth around £7 per car.

Unfortunately I don't have the funds to compete with that sort of offer at present but will be happy to register & organise participation for any non-CAR members who wish to attend the event under the Renault Alpine Owners Club guise regardless of whether they are fully paid up members or not. :D

Also happy to accept any rich defectors!!

I'll also be organising a trip to Le Mans for the 9,10th July so those that attended Zolder will be able to at least make the silver trophy level. Will try and make a weekend of it this time so we get a few laps of the Bugatti circuit on Sunday. At 'parade speed' of course 8)

Stephen, I wasn't suggesting for a minute that you should try and subsidise our trips... Just expressing my frustration at CAR, who have a massive reserve fund of our annual subs in the bank but can't organise anything to spend it on.. Really poor.
BTW put me down for Le Mans in July... Quite fancy the German trip too, as it is the Spa Historic festival on the Sunday... would make for a fine w/e.
