Drivers side lock

Postby Matt200 » Tue Sep 08, 2009 2:14 pm

Can I have a quick sanity check before I abandon hope and before I mistakenly destroy a perfectly good lock, perhaps for a different car!

I picked up a new lock mechanism and solenoid a few months back from Paul Sage and have finally got round to trying to fit it... getting the old one out and switching the solenoid was pretty straightforward, but on comparing the two there are a fair amount of differences. Some could be adapted, but others would require bursting open the unit...

So a sanity check, can anyone confirm I'm at a deadend and should source another correct mechanism, or let me know what I'm missing...

Here are some pics with the differences highlighted.

Cheers,

Matt

Have you looked in the parts book to see if there are different units for different years, which could explain some of the differences.
What exactly was your original "problem". If it was just electrical, could you just swap the new electric bits into your old mechanism?
Big_MVS is breaking a car maybe he has some parts.
Call David Gentleman at ART, I know he had some old doors from broken cars.

Good thought, I'll check the parts book for variances... but I do recall Paul saying that they are 'the same' as the R25 ones, so maybe it's that and just needs a little modification. Of course the sensible thing would be to check with Paul...

The original problem was a dropped door, the usual top hinge. That's now fixed (almost) but whilst dropped it appears to have damaged the the catch mechanism, hence the new unit.

Cheers for the pointers.

Matt
