Console gauges

I am thinking of ditching my standard Philips radio tape double din unit with clock and to replace the centre console area with a radio CD MP3 player at the top, a cubby hole holder in the bottom and 3 off 52mm gauges in the middle.
I thought I would install gauges for Oil Temp, Water Temp and Voltage.
Any comments on if this is a good combination of gauges or would other owners choose a different conbination?

how much do you want for your old unit,blown mine up trying to sort out a prieviously bodged loom.might be interested.

I left the old top bit of the stereo in with the tuning wheel, just to fill the gap and replaced the double DIN space with a new CD head unit in the middle and three gauges on the bottom: Analogue clock, turbo gauge and Voltmeter along the bottom. Just because they were easiest to fit! :D

Hi Simon,
I'm sure you know this already, but there is a threaded hole in the sump for an oil temp gauge already. I don't know which model used to have one, but its there.
The voltmeter is also a useful one especially if you have had alternator issues (helped me with my Audi when the alternator packed up on it too).
I am also sure that I have seen pictures of parts for this mod on one of the alpine suppliers Websites (Maybe ART??) in the past./

Sounds like a good mod at the risk of making the car interior a bit less retro 80's.

Will you post some pictures when you have done it?

I'd forgotten about that in the sump ,thanks Lee .I've got a temp gauge to wire in and was looking at making up an adapter to splice into the oil cooler pipework but I'll see if it'll fit there .

I'd go Oil temp ,pressure and AFR .I've permanently fixed a double adapter for the cig lighter that shows charge level with three LED's .That's all I need to know volts wise .

Early GTA cars have the oil temp sensor in the sump this is for the rear fans later cars have a plug fitted in this hole
