NEC Classic 13-15 November

Postby stephendell » Wed Oct 07, 2009 1:37 pm

Looks like we will just have Steve Thomsons R5 GTT on the Meguiar's Club Showcase this year.

Best Post 1979 Sports Car & Best in Show - World Series by Renault 2009

We had hoped to have a full club stand but I've been in touch with the organisers and was quite staggered by the proposed cost of the display space for 3 vehicles.

The original quote was £6750+VAT and the revised quote after
negotiating was £3750+VAT

The idea was to bring a selection of some of the concours winners from the World Series by Renault Silverstone 2009:

eg:

Best Pre 1979 Car - Renault Caravelle
Best Pre 1979 Classic Sports Car - Alpine A110
Best Modern Sports Car - Renaultsport Clio V6

To complement the car already being exhibited on the Meguiar's Club
Showcase

There has been no Renault presence for a few years now (other than one car on the Meguiar's showcase each year) and we were hoping to change things but unfortunately not at that rate!

I've written to some of the other clubs that I know are displaying to see
what they have been charged (Bugatti Owner's Club, Matra Enthusiasts) or whether it's just a Renault thing!

We may have some complimentary tickets courtesy Meguiar's so if you are interested in going let me know. Return train fare from London is around £35 at the moment or £24 if you want to hang around for a slightly later return.

Anyone in the South-East got a fancy doo daa trailer I can have the lend of to take my car their??? :)

I don't really fancy driving it to Birmingham in November then cleaning it ready to go onto a Meguiars Club Stand?! :? :P

I think it's a bit odd actually how Meguiars want me to take my car their & then clean it all up myself before giving it to them for the weekend to show on their stand and not help me clean it up?! :?: :?:

I'll just have to make sure I've some AutoGlym products strewn throughout the car and get a matching fleece with it all emblazoned on the back also!

They haven't had one there for a few years due to the escalating cost, and now I can see why @ £1,250+VAT per vehicle!!

We were going to team up with RCCC but I doubt they want to spend nearly £2K to display a car!

I was expecting a few hundred pounds at most.

That's normal practice for concours. Often the owners are really funny about other people cleaning their car and won't let ayone else touch it.

Also it's still a competition on the day with a prize going to the best car on the stand at the NEC. I don't know if they made that clear so they can't really prepare it for you.
