Racelogic Bruntingthorpe Data

Postby stephendell » Wed Oct 21, 2009 10:00 pm

Upgraded the Racelogic kit tonight to improve satellite locating speed (hopefully!) ready for tomorrow.

Downloaded the data from the SD card in the machine and discovered that every run made has produced a graph like the one below.

Image

Its pretty impressive stuff with an enormous amount of data recorded for each run. On a simple level you can see all the gear changes and braking points. You can even overlay the car position on the circuit via google Earth to see the lines taken through each corner.

Should be possible to identify the driver in each case from the recorded Vmax as they are all slight different.

Steve,

Been looking at these today and do you think the PB03 is worth an extra £80 over the PB02 to get a carry case and external arial?

I want another unit and have the same dilemma. They have really worked the pricing structure out carefully on the kits and to their advantage.

For PB02 you are paying £30 for a standard USB cable and 512 SD card. You could buy both for a fiver on ebay and still have change.

The carry case looks nice but not worth the money, so you are then tempted to buy the PB03 kit with the extenal antenna to make the case look better value. However you can only do this in conjunction with PB02 which is already £25 over the odds!

If you just buy a case with PB01 you end up spending £372, the antenna is probably worth £18 so then only £4 extra for the SD card and lead which is what they are really worth.

So yes in summary if you want the case which is very nice and very overpriced you have to go for PB03!!

Alternatively try and look out for them at a show like Autosport and pay the show price which is usually a bit less!

Remember the external antenna is magnetic so only really suited to tintops.

I haven't seen the case yet so can't comment but would have thought it's not worth the money. Seems to me that the PB01 would be fine as I have USB cables and cards anyway. Does it accept 1gb cards and are you getting anywhere near the capacity of the 512 when you have used it?

Have used a 1GB ok.

I'd only used about 30% of the 512 in 5 visits without downloading
