Styling similarity

Postby 8bit » Thu Aug 13, 2009 12:59 am

I have long noticed a styling similarity between the A310 and the 1979/80 Firebird. Since the A310 came first maybe this is styling plagiarism? lol.

Yes, Firenza too, although starting in 1971 I think the A310 was the earliest. The Vauxhall came along in '73 I believe. It's a nice look.

Lots of lights here too, and again early 70's.

Glassy look seems popular in cartoons too.

Personally I always thought the 310 was a bit of a ringer for the Corvette stingray

Styling similarity

Joined this one a bit late but... Is it just me or do others see the resemblance to this early 60s American classic, the Studebaker Avanti (minus the furry dice)? Amazingly, these cars also had a fibreglass body.

The Avanti was styled by legendary designer Raymond Loewy, who also did the classic Coke bottle shape.

The final years of the Citroen DS, and the SM, also had a very glass front, not to mention those headlamps that went around corners with you :!: 8)
