Newbie: Potential GTA V6 turbo owner.

Postby Paul Taylor » Fri Nov 20, 2009 9:46 pm

Hi all,

Ive just signed up, as i have an interest in the GTA V6 turbo.
I have always had performance cars in the past, mostly american. Camaro's, Corvettes, etc..
I have also had some Renualts in my time... a 30TX, Fuego 1.6 Turbo, and a 25 V6. All many yrs ago.

Currently im driving a big Dodge RAM truck, however.... i am looking to replace this very soon, so i am on the lookout for my new next car.
Ive always liked cars that are somewhat different, and have character when driven. The Alpine GTA V6 Turbo has always had a place in my mind, and i remember sitting in a bright yellow one at the NEC Motor Show when i was about 18, along with my dad. Back then it had a huge WOW factor for me, and it still does.
The rare factor of these cars also make them more appealing to me.

Presently i am considering the light blue one on Ebay, with the Aztec wheels. Also on Pistonheads.

I have some questions though....
The 200bhp that the V6 Turbo produces is exteamly low by modern standards. Especially for an engine of its size.
So i was wondering exactly how well does it perform with its limited power ?. I know they have a book top speed of 155, but that does not really tell all.
I would like to know what they are like to drive on a day to day basis.

Thanks all !,

Paul Taylor,
Reading, Berkshire.

Hello Paul, welcome to the forum.

Have a good search through old posts on the site as the info is priceless.

They are a bit down on power by modern standards but the performance is still swift, don't forget they are relatively light and the handling more than makes up for it

The other plus point as you say is that they are rare. You are unlikely to pass another one whilst driving. 8)

Good luck with the search.

P.S I co-own the Blue Car for sale so pm me if you want more info or give me a call.

Hi all,

Does anyone know about a Bright Red GTA Turbo owned by "Dave Parsons" ?. The car is just north of Bristol.

The car looks great, and has been exceptionally looked after. It had a complete engine removal last year, with the suspension and subframes being powder coated.

Just wondering if anyone knows of the car, and maybe some history ?.

Cheers,

Your nearest Alpine specialist is right here, this web site. You wont get anything any better unless you visit Lee @ RATS in Derby.

Just for heavy mechanical work really. If any is required.

I had a full Hip replacement this year, so i cannot roll around on the ground under a car like i used too !.

Morning all....

Well i am the proud new owner of the Silver-Dream-Machine.. :D

As i mentioned to Matt, it was a difficult decision, since i have seen 5 GTA Turbo's now. But overall, his was the best, and needed the least amount of work.

Since i currently have a car on Lease with 4 months left to go, i have plenty of time to get the car fully up together. Ready in time to hit the roads in Spring.

There are a couple of jobs to do..
Replace interior carpet.
Re-cover carpet on engine cover.
New heater Fan control switch.
New Indicator stalk.
Reset all the Tappets - Havnt done that on a PRV for 20yrs !. Actually ever car i saw had loud clapping Tappets.

And i like my Audio. So will be fitting a new Alpine head unit. Amp, and Component speakers.

Good times ahead.........

"New heater Fan control switch.".
If your fan only works on the highest speed, then it is the rheostat. For a few quid, I can get a tech at work to fix it for you, he did mine and it works a treat now.
