Ride back was slippy as car is on slicks at the rear
Depends where you get your figures from
Very true.
In standard form:
Renault 5 Turbo approx 165bhp per ton
Renault GTA Turbo approx 170bhp per ton
So not much in it on paper.
However the quoted factory times for the GTA Turbo were very conservative and the factory quoted times for the Turbo 2 a little optimistic.
Typical factory figures (Renault Literature)
5 Turbo 0-60 6.6 Top speed 124mph
GTA Turbo 0-60 7s Top speed 155mph
Typical test figures (Contemporary magazines)
5 Turbo 0-60 7.4 Top speed 122mph
GTA Turbo 0-60mph 5.8 secs Top speed 153mph
There is no doubt that in standard form the GTA is considerably faster in a straight line in part due to the much better aerodynamics.
5 Turbo can be very quick through the twisty bits in the right hands especially in higher tune.
0-60 figures were down to as low as 6.4 seconds with the 180 hp and 210 hp kits and works cars had a top speed of around 136 mph.
