Steering track rod ends

Postby Juzzblack » Thu Jul 30, 2009 9:08 pm

I've got some play in the track rod ends on my GTA and wondered if they're common to another Renault so I can order some new ones from my local motor factors? The front suspension is R25 and the steering rack is supposedly Fuego, but I remember a thread somewhere about whether the track rod ends were different to the Fuego but can't find it. Does anyone know for certain if they are Fuego or not or what Renault they're off? Bound to be the same as something.

Have you tried Simon, 'common' parts can normally be bought as cheap from them, and you also know you are getting the right part.

Simon are much more expensive compared to my local motor factors. For example I recently changed a front suspension ball joint. £9 from my local supplier because I knew it was a R25 part, compared to £26 quoted by Simon. That's why if anyone knows what other Renault the track rod ends are common to I can get it much more cheaply and quickly locally. Cheers.

Still trying to source some track rod ends.

The closest Renault one (I think it's listed for a R25) my local motor factors does is this:

Image

The bottom one is off the GTA for comparison. As you can see they're not exactly the same. The taper is slightly different and the GTA has a bolt that screws into the top, the R25 one has a nut. Don't know if this would make a difference and they would still fit? Does it look like they're worth trying? Has no one else ever changed their track rod ends? I tried Renault and they quoted over £100 each! Might have to try Simon after all but I'm surprised they're not easier to source. Thought they would be a common Renault part.

Taper size looks very different Juzz and shorter .Measure the small ends but the 25 looks a lot smaller to me from that pic .

They were knackered anyway mate, I gave the one to Juzz in the above pic so he could hunt around for another TRE. Just amazed they are that expensive and GTA specific.

Hope for once the a610's TRE's are cheap and from a clio or something...but then again

Funny though ,the parts manual shows it as having a nut as the 25 version but it's not as we know .

rod ends are same as spider.... you guys are lucky.... GTA only uses 2 of em on the steering only.... spida has 6 on the car in total as they're also used on the rear suspension, we're in he process of getting some made... and they should be much cheaper than the Renault ones.....

7700677601 is no longer listed in the Renault system (according to my friendly dealer!), but as far as I can tell, that number is for one of the rack mounting brackets. The only number that comes up as a common part for both GTA and 610 is 6001006631 and is readily available at £90.27 plus the tax. It is a code 3 discount item (25%) if you have a friendly dealer who will give you max discount but that still makes it a pretty steep £67 plus VAT. If my facts are wrong I'm sure someone will correct me!
