It is extremely nasty. Agree with Clee on this one. It was for sale elsewhere a little while back and was mentioned on these pages. That wood is just shocking and red and gold??????!!!!

I cant believe the original owner actually paid for the 'special order Red Leather and Walnut Veneer Trim'... He must have done it for bet or was clean off his rocker! Awful...

Too new for Australia. Needs to be pre 1/1/89 for much easier/cheaper compliance for registration.

If built after 1/1/89 it would first up require that there is a recognised workshop to do the compliance, which there aren't in Aus for the GTA. There are plenty for GTR Skylines Supras and the like.

Next if there was a workshop for the GTA it would need a cat fitted, new seatbelts, brake hoses and pads, all fluids and filters replaced, a stringent noise and exhaust emissions test, full set of new tyres, and a smaller fuel filler neck fitted.

Anti-intrusion bars have to be fitted to the doors whether it was made before or after 1989.

And of course you also have to pay for the freight, 10% Import Duty and then 10% Government Statutory Tax on all costs incurred adds to the costs considerably.

Thanks Alan,
I guess its the first point that's the killer, all the other ones are just engineering.
Are these dates fixed or do they roll forward with age? (And isn't there an A610 in Aus...how did it get through?)

Cheers

If you can prove it was manufactured before the 1st Jan 1989 (even if it was registered afterwards) it will be OK. I did this for an Aussie which involved quite alot of work for myself and turbodog, the fountain of all alpine knowledge Mr Dell had the info all along though  It was by the by after all that anyway as we had a virtual tyre kicker interested

The date is fixed, and yes the car just has to be built before 1/1/89, but it is obviously easier to prove if it was registered before this date. The date originally was a rolling 15 years, and was when I brought my first one in 6 years ago. It just got in by two months, and is the newest GTA Turbo in Aus.

Then the Government got worried about all the cheap Japanese rocketships that were about to come on line and set the date to 1/1/89.

The one A610 and 2 Clio V6s that are in Aus were brought in as Personal Imports, meaning they were owned and used overseas for a continuous 12 months or more before they were brought over to Aus. You must show the car was used and your passport must be surrendered to prove you didn't just buy a car, go home for ten months and then go back over again.

A different set of rules apply and I believe the car has a much easier compliance schedule to be adapted to.

Some years ago the period was only 3 months and I had planned a trip using some long service leave. By the time I had the money and made arrangements with work the time had been increased to 12months.
