Brake servo protective panel

Whilst under the Alp today, I noticed how vunerable the servo seemed to be, and was surprised there was no form of cover under the servo, so on looking at the manual, there is mention of a "protective panel" which has to be removed before removing the servo.
Question:- Is there suppost to be a panel under the servo to protect it against the elements
If so...... has anyone got one from a breaker that I could purchase please

From memory there should be some sort of plastic/reinforced cardboard underneath it.

I'll have a look for you John but I think it's gone with the last 2 shells to be honest.

My car does not have one either, anu one got a pic of what it should look like, can probably make something up.

It has a rubber mudflap type thing on the outer side to protect it from stuff coming in through the wheel arch .I've just pulled on off the breaker but it's been snapped up already .

If it has not yet been shipped out, are you able to trace round it for the dimensions and hole placements?
and what do you think part 12 is, even though it is marked as D503, maybe a 610 'improvement'?

Redodare has it so perhaps he will trace round it if someone asks nicely
12 looks like those silly trim clips that break every time they are removed ,they hold the rear intercooler grill .
Don't think they were there anyway ,it was riveted to the inner body in a couple of places .

I also found that in the parts list, but my concern is the part of the servo that protudes below the chassis members which being metal is only going to rust, so I cant help thinking that a moulded cover would be a good idea to protect it against spray etc.

What we need is a plastics designer to design and to produce some ......... could be a nice little earner

A cover won't stop it from rusting .I'd just clean it up and waxoil it
Or you could get that special coating that Big MVS has had done
It's great and doesn't make working on them a pain in the asp at all

But in a way I would like to persue some form of protection cover......with your knowledge pf plastics, is there some form of sheet, say 1/2 to 1 mm thick which with a hot air gun can be moulded by hand, so to speak, into a shape that when attached would offer protection to the servo. In the mean time I will give it a clean and treat it with a rust curing solution, then wax oil it like you suggest.

Thanks for that Lee, however seeing that I could get some PVC sheeting, I decided to get underneath the Alp to measure what size sheet was required, having looked at it in more detail, I realised that the amount of bulge required was smaller than I thought, and as I had some 1mm ali sheet around, I proceeded to make a cardboard pattern which was then transfered to the ali. Pics below . It is held in place with screws tapped into the chassis, I decided against self tappers as I felt that if they fell out, they were likely to be picked up by the rear tyres......not a good Idea, however in the final fit they will be lock tighted
There is a 1/4 inch clearance between the cover and the servo.

A craftsman indeed john, top work bud good idea protecting the servo from crud water etc and saved a few quid from the stealers!!!

John, you appear to be missing the undertray from your car. This extends from the front undertray, past the servo and past the fuel filters. This is held in place by six bolts, three on each side. The nuts are captive nuts built into the chassis. When it stops chucking it down with rain I will put my car up on the ramps and takes some photos for you to see.
