i would also like to thank the wife for great map reading not getting us lost once and to everyone for making her feel welcome this now bodes well for her coming to more events with me

i think one of the biggest highlites for me had to be the saturday afternoon stage with dave and a couple of french guys in their A310's that drive will stay with me for ages to come

off to give the car a well deserved polish and have a look at the wobble that she developed on the way down

thanx again all and lookin forward to next year already

Macon

Postby Miles » Tue May 18, 2010 5:53 pm

Macon, ......"Fantastic, me and Di loved it" (I hope) hahaha
Cheers to Andy and Steve for organisation the british contingent.

A special thanks has to go to Richard and Steve for sorting my alpine out, I'm sure i would have been on the flatbed, more than once if it was not for your expertese and help.

Was great to meet up with fellow members ot the RAOC especially those mad english men in their spiders (Miles, Paul thats you hahah good effort)

And as Steve has already mentioned the drive with the two French 310's was memorable especialy when (Di said "when we slowing down" "Er once we have overtaken them ok" hahah And seeing Steve and Kerry overtaking( I like your philosophy that they will see you coming)

Incase the word is not out Di was caught on candid camera just before the tunnel along with a few others....Ops...(identify yourselves)

Made it home, safe and sound, well almost. Missing one times fuel filter somewhere near macon, lots of front tyre wear (Top tip do not arrive with a lowered car, I wondered why all the french dudes were grinning). The mirror was the final straw i'm on the market for a spider with a roof and heater, hahahha

Funniest moment for me was ( loosing my wing mirror, Said to Di just pull over and i will re-attach it, she proceeded to brake to a standstill while saying "I don't think you will be pushing it back on" hahaha Im still laughing i said "Don't worry about it, it's happened before" now i exited the passenger seat (On the hard shoulder of the motorway) and proceeded round to the drivers door where I was confronted with a couple of loose cables but no mirror. " Oh" I said. To which Di responded" Its back there somewhere.

What an event, if you have not done it yet and you love to drive your car quickly this is for you..

A great time had by all. Thanks to Steve Dell for letting me share the V6 Clio with him for the weekend, Andy for sorting out the tickets and everyone who contributed to making it such a great weekend. Met some great new people - John 'The Judge' (Lee's co-driver) had some great anecdotes and John C and his lovely wife were a pleasure to spend time with. Its great everyone gets on so well and Dave Miles is such a positive guy I'd have crying in my Jack Daniels if I Had so many set backs over the weekend! I think his missus getting flashed on speed camera on the way back cheered him up  . Pictures up on facebook if anyone wants to look me up ([email protected])

Macon

Postby Spyder » Wed May 19, 2010 7:59 pm

This was my first initiation of an RAOC event and both me and Carole would like to thank everyone for a fantastic weekend in Macon.
I know a lot of work goes into the planning an event and trip like this so thank you to Andy and Steven and everyone else involved.
I just wish the sun had been out as it was mega cold on Friday morning at 04.45 on route to folkstone and Macon but we Spider drivers showed the hot blood we have in us, we dont need heaters do we Miles!
The Euro Tunnel staff were happy to tell us about a Left Hand drive yellow spider that had earlier come through with an umbrella up and the occupants soaking wet, I guess this must have been Phil and Nicky.
Will Dave Miles swap to a reliable Spider and will Steven learn to map read a Sat Nav. Looking forward to next year.

Hi all Macon participants......well, what can I add, the most fun I have ever had on four wheels (or sometimes two  ). Firstly, as others have said, but worth repeating...tremendious thanks must go to Andy and Steve for making this happen for the RAOC members. It was great meeting the members, their wives and co pilots...a lot of banter...all taken in fun...and some great driving, even if we did get lost.....once
I have to say Susan and I were a bit apprensive before we went knowing that the rest of the attending members already knew each other as you attend meets in the UK which is difficult for us to get to, but we were made extremely welcome and within a very short time we felt part of the RAOC team, so thanks to all for that.
We have only just got back home a couple of hours ago after a round trip of 1365 miles with only one little snag, which really did not affect the running of the Alp......would you believe.....a flashing computer display  . It appears that the flow meter has an intermittent fault, but as it did not affect the fuel guage reading, I did not bother to change it even though I had a spare one with me....a job in the next couple of days, other wise the Alp ran faultlessly.
Anyway.....message to Andy....put me down as a definite for next year, and to all other members, if you have not been before, start making time for next years event.....you wont regret it :D
Anyway, thanks again for a fantastic event and for making us most welcome, and look foward to meeting you all again next year :D
