Then put it on the back of your trailer and spank it up Prescott, what's the worst that can happen....

The bank black lists you sorry but I then I end up with an even bigger unless lump of plastic that I don't have time money or patience to fix. So less stress and hassle to leave it parked

Any way, back to me!

The fuel pumps are drawing too much current, the relay heats up and the fuse blows (30A!)
I've run a new cable to the relay to take a bit more current, but clearly the pump is causing the problem.
There is a basic facet red top pump filling a swirl pot then an A610 pump takes it to the rails and back to the tank again.
All I can think is that some dirt has got into the A610 pump and it's struggling to pump.
Can it be cleaned, or is it going to have to be replaced. You won't be surprised to find it is new....
I will be installing a cheap filter on the low pressure circuit too...

Prescott looking ever more unlikely. :(

Don't bodge electrics on a fibreglass car matey .That heat will just find somewhere else to go
Are you sure it's the fuel pump relay and not the injector relay ?
Check the wiring to the pumps .

have you tried swapping the relays? old relays can make bad contacts and cause all sorts of problems and if ones getting hot its sure its probably cruddy inside remember a relay is a switch.... and they wear out and get dirty....

Thanks for the comments chaps. The injection and the pumps are on seperate fused relays.

I took off the low pressure Facet pump from underneath the car and replaced it with a simple fuel filter. Something crucially missing before.

Then tipped out the contents of the pump:

Luckily the Facet has its own internal filter, but this was so blocked up that the pump has effectively lunched itself and only works noisily with direct 2.5mm cables attached.

So new pump tomorrow and hopefully one problem solved.
