WAs 'dini turbo

Postby Tony Smith » Tue Jun 08, 2010 1:50 pm

Was a 5 'dini turbo running 200bhp and weighing about 700kg. Wasn't claimed to be the fastest - just faster than Peter Garforths GTA Turbo (which it was despite the many doubters on here)
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

Still waiting for a fast dini to turn up.
Every one seems to drive GTAs these days.

Wonder why?

So was that put to the test at any stage then, or just a paper fight? why do these stand-off always focus on bhp... but never mind tis another argument for the 1inch cube 100krpm motor...

Is that chap one of the RTOC lads then? If so we could set up round 2 for fun...

Steve, you can stroke the rice box motor anyway can't you?

1/4 mile times

Postby Tony Smith » Wed Jun 09, 2010 7:36 am

Cars never went head to head but I went in the 'dini plenty of times and it made 99 mph on the 1/4 at Santa Pod when it was running 185 bhp and they have no traction. I have no doubt that between say 20 and 100 mph ( to take traction out of the equation) it was much faster than a mildly modded GTA. Obviously GTA would launch much much better and handling is in a different league (Gary never seemed to except the handling was better!)

We do drag days
we do sprint days
and we do circuit days
....................all in GTAs and never does a dini turn up.

What should I read into that?

Thats because a GTA is cheaper than a DINI, Last Dini sold for £5k.! and not a penny off the price.
