Jerseys International Motoring Festival

Postby JohnC » Sat Jun 05, 2010 5:32 pm

Just to let you see that we ...in little old Jersey.... also have Motoring events. Just thought that it might be good to have a contingent of RAOC Alpines in static stand, or competing next year. Have a look at what goes on in the time table at the end of the pics, and if there is any interest, I`ll make enquires to see how feasible it is. It runs for 3 full days.
Here are some pics.

This Lola belongs to a friend of mine, (top right in Yellow Polo) who bought it new, and raced it many years ago, eventually sold it and forgot all about it, last year a guy phoned him from the states, as he had found out who the original owner was, and offered it to Tony. As you can see it was totally reconditioned in the states, and his grand son now drives it for him to events like this, doing sprints etc, but nothing too serious. Tony is well into his 80`s now, and cant get into it, but he still has a pasion for it.
Lucky for some

Let us know if there is any interest in a RAOC presence for next year

Hi Paul. it will be around this weekend next year. When I get back I will do a bit more digging. I used to work with the guy who helps run the event when we were both at the airport, ... I will come back to you with a firm date.
You are the first on my list  ...any more who might be interested...the Club maybe :?: Steven are you out there :)
I am sure the local Renault Dealership would help, they had a stand there, and they brought a Renault Sports simulator, purpose built in a Renault (of course) van over for the event, It was very popular.

PS
at least it looks warm

John I would love to attend this. The land of Bergerac is on my places to see list  Unfortunately we would have to come in 2 cars to bring the family and baggage which would not fit in the alp unfortunatley. With you saying the ferry is £400 a pop it will prove to expensive.

Hi Martin, I understand that a group booking for this type of event can be negoiated with Condor, but unfortunatally for us locals, it is more expensive for us to leave the Island than it is for others to visit ..thats how we are treated with only one ferry company servicing us.
But if there were to be a reasonable turnout of members, I cant see anyone complaining if you wish to attend the event in a normal  car under the circumstances.
Just come over for a family hol covering the dates of the Festival :) .....no excuses now
