Clutch problem

After a run down the motorway this morning (approx 30 miles), the clutch on my atmo (59k) felt odd and very stiff to depress on a couple of occasions while queueing to get into Supercar Sunday at Gaydon. On the way back, things seemed better.

Could it have been the heat? Chris Rabbetts at Roadspeed recently said the clutch was light and gripped well.

Andy, no idea, my expertise stops at the flywheel ;-), but some other peeps will probably help, have you joined the club?

This sounds like the problem is on the hyraulic side.

Have you changed the hyraulic fluid in the last couple of years - if not, I'd start there.

If this fixes things short term but then it goes back to being stiff again it could be the master or slave cylinder.

The brake fluid is just over a year old. I havent noticed any problems since, so will keep an eye on things over the summer. If anything needs doing, I will get it done over the autumn (along with powder coating the rear subframe)

If the problem is with the plastic hydraulic lines, we have those in stock.

Andy, one question first....when the clutch felt stiff, was it disengaging properly, and were you able to change gear without them crunching?
My first thoughts on this is that it is mechanical, I would check under the pedal cover for a foreign body and clevis pin condition and position etc, (and lubricate the pedal shafts while you are there) and check that the bolts holding the slave cylinder in place have not come loose.
