LOL @ Mr Faulks

The seals are new as the carbs have been on and off more times than I care to mention, water pipes bursting, head gaskets etc the list goes on

I was getting some stange looks from drunken passers by last night as I worked on the car with an LED torch in the pitch black, infact I was thinking what they were ....He's off his rocker

None the less the carbs have been cleaned up the new pipework already fitted to the original carbs swapped over and the new carbs fitted, not easy in the dark I can tell you   Its the scenario where you need two hands to carry out the job and another to point the torch in the correct direction  It took longer to do, but I got there. All I have to do this evening is check the pipes over put a couple of cooling pipes back in position refit the aircleaner and pray it starts and runs.

I hope it does as the 1.15 am epic will all have been but a waste of time.

ha-ha+ softie, be grateful you've only got drunks! As Jon can concur.. I have much stranger fauna and flora passing outside my bone yard.. know the thing about being called TwoDogsF.. well just substitute that with 2 blokes, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the didn’t pass by the name of Flora either! ... Everything happens down Strange Street  ... and you won't see one of them slumming it in a GTA ha-ha+ .. money and boredom..

What was that about twin chokes and popping your pistons at full bore? :D

To be honest Martin

Postby si21 » Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:03 pm

To be honest Martin......I was more worried about the cars coming past me in the dark bouncing off the rev limiter in 2nd gear

Dont ya just love it when ya garage is the road

Primed the carb with some fuel took a couple of turns of the key and a little persausion from the throttle and she burst into life, I now have a cold start and fast idle which drops back and a car that drives much more sweetly and responsively :P

I just got to fit the air cleaner and check a rear indicator bulb and thats me sorted for the MOT tomorrow.... well emmissions wise I hope!!

si21.......... still praying its an Atmo afterall

same ole same ole

Postby si21 » Tue Aug 24, 2010 7:38 pm

I just have to laugh i spent a lot of my weekend in wales trying to keep the engine oil in the sump lol i kept blowing the dip stick out. Thinking the worst that the rings had gone a couple of mods to shorten the home made dip stick and increase spring strength to the dip stick spring and the problem was solved.

As soon as that was fixed my idle went up the shoot sitting at 2,000 rpm this wa re-adjusted it ram ok but slightly high.

On the cruise home i put my foot down in fifth and it gathered speed like an automatic...yep the clutch has gone lol and so was,any idle it was,a fun journey home through the city centre trying yo brake and keep the revs up. I also had hot start issues so whem i did stall it i had to wait for it to cool before getting under way.

As one bit is fixed another bit drops straight off

All my fears of engine removal have come true
