Fuel system flush

Postby empty » Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:56 pm

Hi all
I am going to flush my system as I have an occasional blip when giving her some welly and further to an ancient post by Mr. Gentleman I'm thinking it could be 20yrs of crud in the fuel system which is the culprit.
Does anyone know whether the filter is cleanable or should it be replaced?

Just put new ones on .Turbo or Atmo ?
The rear filter is not cheap at around £30 ,front you can get a slightly larger than OE one ,both from a factors .I'll dig out the codes .

I drained my tank recently and then wiped it out, best I could with a rag on the end of a stick. I was very surprised that there was not visable sediment in the fuel tank at all.
You can see in better whe you remove the fuel gauge sender unit.

The front Fuel Filter is pretty much directly below the Battery.
Remove the under-tray under the car and you will see it.

Rear Filter is in the Rear Right wheel arch. Remove Wheel, and Remove protective plastic cover.

There's only one on the atmo. At the front next to the pump.

Some people fit a universal one at the rear just before in feeds the carb.

do a search.
When I replaced my rear one, I think it was off a Porsche, it was about £20 I think. From Euro car parts .
