Someone wanted this badly...

Postby stephendell » Thu Jan 06, 2011 1:59 pm

Sold today for £1980 + delivery + VAT so just shy of £2700 in real money

We bid to approx £2K and to be honest that was probably already a bit too high bearing in mind in's spares only CAT B and can never go back on the road, unless you re-shelled the running gear into a GTA.

Hard to put a price on though I guess if you really wanted the engine and gearbox it was better value than the Clarkson cars parts.

Keep an eye on ebay for the parts surplus to requirements...

There were two guys after it at the last minute, I was already out of the running. One was the winner 'AFC1579' and the other was 'lotus racing'.

The bid system is unlike ebay in that every time a higher bid is placed in the last 5 mins the auction is extended for another 5 minutes, quite clever really and lets them extract the max cash from those that don't have the willpower to stick to their limit.

Both bidders put in new bids higher than they were originally planning to go in the extension period.

Easy repair that one

Jason was lucky to walk away with a gashed hand there....

Mr Dell - I was informed that this was a CAT B spares only car which could only be sold to listed salvage companies. How come you were bidding???

Too rich for my blood even if I had the space/opportunity. Looks like £1500 to me all day long.

Fortunately the club now has a waste management licence and is authorised to bid on and then dismantle depolluted end of life vehicles.

Worth bearing in mind if you see something you really want (or want some parts from) and it's CAT B. I did offer to keep bidding for Mr Dini if he really wanted it...

By coincidence the last salvage GTA I bought also came from the same place for around the same money. Was only CAT C though and drove away and ended up in Ireland.

Damage was pretty bad considering. Look at how far the RH sill has been pushed in. These are reinforced on the A610. Every light is broken apart from the LHR and the LH front wing is smashed too.

HBC but you can only view Cat C & D unless you are a licensed dismantler.

What's ironic is that in the batch of parts from Dieppe was a RHD A610 windscreen surround and I remember commenting that if you ever needed this part the car most likely wouldn't be worth fixing...

There's a new shape 350Z currently at £1600 if anyone fancies a conversion...

About right and the budget I was working to. That's £2K including vat and delivery. Better value if you are VAT registered and have a waste transport licence.

The salvage company must be delighted, the reserve was £500.

Damm that would have been good for spares!!! Those wheels would be nice once re furbed, ay Martin!!!
It still makes me sad looking a pic's of broken Alpine's especially a 610, at least the driver walked away.
So watch this space for a610 parts clear out then!!!

You kept that quiet.

Yes baggsy the wheels

Not sure who won it, I'm guessing it's too expensive for most breakers (Accrington) so it must be someone after it for the lump?
