Introduction

Postby Teglen » Sat Feb 26, 2011 11:27 pm

Hi all,

Been lurking here for a few weeks, about to take delivery of a 1986 GTA V6 Turbo tomorrow, and seeking some advice on spare parts.

I've had a good read around here (and all over t'internet) and it seems these headlamp lens are a little bit on scarce side... any advice, any pictures of the polycarb versions that RAOC sell?

Looking forward to meeting some of you at meets in the future.

Paul.

Welcome :D

Are you the guys mate from the 21toc? Glad you bought it as it's not had a loving owner for ages.

Headlamp glasses are only available new from Renault at approx £250 per side (this does fluctuate depending on how many are on the shelf I suppose).

There are polycarb ones in production but we have been waiting for full confirmation/ordering for a while. I think Steve Dell can get some.

Enjoy the Alpine they are great underated cars 8)

Hi,

Yes, are you Lee? (the one that provided all the advice/tips) If so, much appreciated, certainly helped the process.

I've always had a passion for cars, however this is the first car I've bought with a view to actively restore, so yes she's in good hands. The car is "C33 WRK" which was a/the press car (featured on Top Gear 1986 Ep3), so it's got a nice history to it too - is this likely to be the oldest RHD Turbo in existence?

As for the headlamp lenses... I'm interested in getting a set and fitting them before June (Alps trip)... so I guess Renault is my only option here. Is this Renault UK (any dealer) or Dieppe?

Finally, I'm based in Wiltshire (near Salisbury), any Alpine owners/club members local?

Again, thanks for the buying advice, really appreciate it.

Paul.

No that's Clee

I'm the dodgy dealer who tried to get you to buy our superb example in Tungsten Grey, which is not ready yet and wouldn't be for your trip.

Headlamp glasses available from France via Renault dealers (3-6 weeks), or Simon Auto (3-6 Days) or our leader Steve Dell (3-6 Years), lead times are in brackets

Hi Paul,

Congrats on your purchase...

I'm in Bournemouth and also have a 1986 blue GTA Turbo.

i'd be very happy to meet up (there are some awesome roads between Bmouth and Salisbury...) but dont count on me for advice, i've only had my GTA for few months and still have lots to learn. but there are some very helpful guys here on the forum...

Hi, I might have seen you taking it for a test drive the other day. I live just up the road from Eclectic Cars and went to have a look at it at the end of last year.
Enjoy

Hi Paul

I'm glad to see that someone has given this GTA a good home as it's been off the road for about 10 years.
Your car is one of a number of early press cars and your car is in fact number 2 as you can check on your chassis number which should read 5010500042002.

I've never been able to trace car 1 which has the registration C32 WRK.

I've attached a picture of your car on the front of an Alpine road test book ...

@ mogster242: thanks, very pleased with it myself :o) and yes, it'll be great to meet up at some point.

@ turbodog: indeed, one of the reasons for the purchase was it's history, here's a nice video... http://www.streetfire.net/video/top-gea ... 205806.htm :o)

Soo... how do I become a member? do I really need to send an antiquated cheque off? The application form mentions Paypal...

And anyone got headlamps lens going cheap? ;o)

Paul.

Hi Paul .

Glad to help .You need to poke them in the right places but sounds a good one 8)
The bits you're after are thin on the ground ....rear clusters especially .Shout loudly and some front covers may turn up .
