I dont care if it is up for sale in a month for double the price so long as it is restored nicely and stays in the uk!!

I would book it in now for paint with andy as he is sooo busy restoring a R 5 turbo 2, he has done a stunning job on mine!

I'm sure you'll be feeling a lot better when you see photos of the car in bits with me armed with angle grinder and welding torch!!!

I've never seen Andy's work but it would have to be good to compare with my local painter. He's just done a Countach that looks like the paint is still wet!! Work of that standard takes many hours though and attention to detail. The last job he did for me was on my old Boxster and the local Porsche dealer couldn't identify where the car had been painted!!

I like the idea of soda blasting this back to the gel coat. I've never painted an A610 but I assume there is no way of getting a perfect finish without removing the rear quarterlights?

And re the Boxster - he struggled to get the finish as poor as the Boxsters!!

Andy sounds like he's got the same level of commitment to get the job done well.

I'm not sure when I'm going to be picking the car up but I won't get chance to give this the time it deserves straight away.

I do plan on starting a separate thread to show what I find as I strip the years away.

I think it was painted in 2001 so that would have been you then? Did you sell it to Gareth Evens then or to the most recent keeper?

I am very happy with this car. It still feels very tight and together.

So you've spotted it already. Here it is

http://www.leboncoin.fr/voitures/197158012.htm

I'll take €25K from any fellow forum users - I'll even throw in a sheep skin coat for good measure.

Seriously though. I've not had time to mess about taking snaps. I was keen to get to grips with what needed doing to get the car roadworthy and it hasn't been even half as bad as I feared. It was nice getting that MOT.

It is now in the bat cave, hence my other query about car covers as it won't be seeing much attention over the next few months as I'm away with work, holidays and other commitments.

Shall I start taking regular photos of the car with the days newspaper in front of it to prove I've still got it?

thats sounds familiar me selling to Gareth Evans. It had the cutting out problem when I first picked it up all those years ago but quickly sorted that and only painted it due to a few bubbles appearing on the roof and along the top of one of the doors. Glad to see its gone to a good home and hope you enjoy it.

Yes, the cuttng out was documented too. Gareth maintained the car on a money no object basis and the last owner had things fixed if they broke and serviced it regularly, right up until the last MOT failure. Looking at the bills Ranault charged him I can understand he decided that the failed MOT was a sign for a change. He even had the aircon sorted which was not cheap. Replacing the water hoses cost him about £2K!!!

I've got a good basis to make a very very nice car. It has arrived at a good home and I hope to make the most of it. :D

I'm assuming they were OEM Renault as they were fitted by a Renault dealer.
