Yea... got to know what you're looking for first   I have to say you got caught on my carrot too easily there Dave... But it's simple like 1+1 = 2: pocket and money, pay any number of piston manufacturers and you can have what you want...

236 euro each for a barrel, ring and piston from simon autos.
There are two different types (60 part number early cars, 77 part number later cars).
I cannot see why a minuscule change in stroke changes piston part
number, but was told they are compatible in sets only.
Seems a shame to change 4 or 5 good pistons to get rid of a small cold tinkle from it's sister.
Come on Martin give us a hint, cosworth sierras? 1340 cc mini, what else is 73mm?

I'm as much in the dark as you which is why I want one to model

If you check my website you'll see a photo of a Venturi 600 piston next to an NA 3 litre casting. Kevin Jones kindly lent it to me before I had any CAD skills

Have you got any now??? Haha+ sorry, couldn't resist that lmao..I’m sure you have, won’t really help though. The bit you really need to know is the skirt camber, and the only way to really do that is a CMM machine...

I think we owe the thread author an apology, as this thread has been hijacked!!!

I read a book once ...Green it was ....

If you all want to chip in some pennies I can get a piston laser scanned ..reverse engineering innit , used to do it quite a bit with the plastics stuff .

I think this might be a very useful opportunity for the community... Dave M wants to build a 3 litre turbo from a Laguna lump. I'd be happy to chip in. Maybe it's something El Presidente might like to invest some club funds on?

Edit: I've trawled my photo archive and found the original

Left: 3 litre NA standard piston, Right: Venturi 600. Photographed with the gudgeon pin at the same level. From memory the deck height was exactly 2mm lower, consistent with some quick calcs based on compression ratio.

Certainly it's what some of the clubs funds should be used for ..Rather than subsidising the pissup at WSR .....
