accelerator return spring ,help

accelerator return spring ,help

My accelerator pedal was making a bit of a noise every time depressed, I took the panel off and found this

It doesn't look quite right, the cable tie sort of gave it away :roll:
Any one tell me where and how the return spring should go, thanks[/url]

In the bin :lol:
No spring up that end ,looks like it is holding the plastic retainer to the metalwork ? This should hold in place with it's own devices .
The return is all done via the throttle spindle in the engine bay .

The plastic retainer is ok, so Ill bin the spring , and hope I dont have any probs at the other end (hence the spring this end !!)

I think Heath Robonson had something to do with that arrangement.

I've never seen that setup before. I suspect water has got into the cable and caused it to stick, previous owner has bodged a repair.
