No idea ....do you have any info relative to engine codes ?? MartinF was saying the crank 73 or 72.5 throw so that's only 0.25 difference I'm assuming to keep comp .
There are various numbers on the piston crown and internally but without any ref they mean bigger all .......I will measure the throw when I put it back together .
Not all the original liners will be going back in .I need to find a good 6 and then plonk them in specific places for best performance .
The honing dude is going to let me know which should go where and also time them in the block .

Should collect the heads tomorrow .
Spent the day cleaning up the rest and getting  with the stuck wishbone .A week of Plusgas did the trick but still needed a big bar and my 15 stone to shift it ..............Will have to see if I have any better bushed units or we are in to a few tophats ...

77 part number for the piston and barrel after FD 0774...no idea why this would be different for such a small change in stroke.. as you suggest probably a minute difference in the dome to keep the CR right.

As I understand it most of the last A610s were RHD so we'll have more of the77 type here than other countries (Stephen can advise) (including my one...)

Watching with interest.....anyone else want to make a Laguna engine into an A610/Safrane biturbo one and need some pistons?

Nice...

Not being female I don't care about colours.. whatever you have lying around is fine :)

What's really annoying here is modelling programs that insist on having Z as the vertical axis. Ugh!

It's a CNC thang .....

There is nothing out there that is close enough to the 610 piston to work so you are left with OE or getting something made .
Again it all depends on demand but I still think we'll still be at around the complete OE package price for just the piston itself .
It is effectively a one off so with R&D it's probably a non starter .
There isn't really a lot of mileage in going down the 3l route anyway if you are after more bang for buck

Sadly for me OE means 6 when I only need one....as the Simon auto parts are the early type (I think...maybe I should check...)
As this is an endemic A610 problem...I would have expected more demand.

Oh well! I guess I'll have to put up with the gentle tapping in the morning- the injectors/tappets are nearly as noisy anyway.

Cheers

It depends how you set up the model... and the software. Pro/E uses planes which are by default called Front, Right and Top.... go figure...

Typically in engineering maths, the Z axis "goes into the page", so when viewed in isometric 3D, it'll point up innit

I reckon go for silver or black... or how about DeLorean grey?

I remember reading some time ago that the 72.7 vs 73mm stroke had something to do with tiers of engine capacity for taxation.... *shrug*, The difference in crown height due to the shorter stroke is 0.15mm.

I assumed the 60 & 77 part numbers were related to the arrival of the Safrane BiTurbo. At that point what would have been an Alpine-specific part would be given a 77 part number even though it's the same part.... no?

Does anyone know if Speedex Pistons are still trading?

The later cars have the smaller stroke- I heard the same story as you on the taxation- and it says so in some of the PRV materials. The part number change corresponds with this change, so it looks like there is a real difference.
I guess you need a matching set, sadly its all academic as Simon auto have none of either type (and have confirmed Renault and Dieppe don't either) and don't expect to re manufacture before next year, in either version.
Anyone know of an broken A610 engine that can be robbed or has anyone got one on the shelf??

Cheers

Oops, did I forget that important "except pink" part again?

Seems to me it should never have passed its last MOT (didn't even get any advisories), possibly not the one before either!
