Sport Spider Windscreen

Postby Lee G » Fri May 06, 2005 8:56 pm

Does anyone know if a full screen assembly on a normal road going UK Sport Spider can be replaced with the just the weird wind diffuser thingy (as used on the early LHD french one's)?

If so, does anyone where these are available from? My local renault dealer is about as much use as a chocolate fire guard!!!

Ive just looked on the RenaultParts system, and it doesn't even display the old difuser type, only the glass screen and surround, so you may have to try Alpine direct..

Thanks for that. How do you normally go about ordering stuff from Alpine direct? I should point out that my french is not exactly fluent!!!

By my understanding, with discussions with Steve, you can't, as Renault UK have an agreement with Alpine about UK enquiries, but if you go to the factory in person, you can buy whatever you like

As David says, basically they won't deliver but are happy for you to collect any orders. They'll even bring orders to events for you (where they have a factory shop) if you place them in advance, but won't post them to the UK.

Thats great news guys. I suppose if you just turn up at the factory you run the risk of them not having what you want in stock. But I'm going over to France in a couple of weeks, so i'll try to get to the factory and see what they can do.

Many thanks for the help.

Yep, but if you think...if the Alpine factory hasn't got in stock at that time, then they'll never have....

Ditch the screen and be done with it.....from what I remember of the reviews of the original car the diffuser was utter rubbish and didnt work anyway.

Rupert kindly took me for a spin, nearly litterally, in his difussed spider, it was quite windy, but you sure as hell feel the ride full on.
Anyway Ruperts's driving skills and spider were quick enough to pressurise the Venturi infront of him to spin out in style, what a view we had. :P

They do run out occasionally. But they will tell you if they're planning to get the part re-manufactured.
