I think its likely his career is on a downward spiral if hes gone from racing a slicks 'n wings single seater to a saloon car. Is he a failed F3000 or failed F1????? With respect to the event (which sounds most entertaining!)he must be down on his luck if hes doing show events having come from such a high place.

Having looked at the photo further hes ex Minardi F1.....so he never stood a chance anyway and undoubtedly paid his way into F1. Simon....if youve got a few million of sponsorship to give theyd probably give you a shot if you could fit in the car  (do you have a 26" waist and stand less than 5'10"??? )

Isn't he the guy that beat schuey at the masters karting in paris before xmas?
I think you'll find he's still on his way up with Renault backing (or maybe i'm out of date on that.....)

He drove for Minardi in 2003 but didnt get picked up by any other team and hadnt got enough cash for 2004 season. He was rumoured to be getting his seat back this year due to a wealthy backer but it appears he didnt......hence why hes doing show events such as this. Didnt know about him beating Schuey at the kart event......couldnt find that on t'internet!!!!

Yep, it was Kovaleinan. He won the Formaula Nippon, then beat Shuey in a Ferarri, and Sebastian Loeb in a Xsara WRC at the Race of Champions in Paris last year.

Kovaleinan is leading the GP2 championship this year (new feeder series for F1) with a guy from Northern Ireland in second (Adam Carroll).

Kovaleinan raced head 2 head with Schumi (both in Fezza 360s) and head 2 head with Loeb (both in Xsara WRC's) at the race of champions to win the individual championship. (If u wanna get technical, they also raced in Pug 307 WRCs as well).

Don't be surprised to see Kovaleinan in the near future in F1!

Oh yeah! He's also currently Renault test pilot for the F1 cars this season as well.
