Andy I have photo's, somwhere, of my inlet ports, after the very expensive work done on them by the Cylinder Head Shop. I will post them when I find them.

First RR run the other day on my 2664 engine (in the A310) though was somewhat of a disaster, car looked like the Torre Canyon (oil pissing from every seal!! and clutch was slipping as well!) but prior to having to call the run to a halt, 213-218bhp was showing.

I now have to replace the seals :twisted: before my next run, but soon as we have confirmed RR runs I will post the plots and the engine spec.

Standard valve springs on a 12v start to float at 7800rpm. You can hit that kind of power this side of 8000 on a 2664 atmo

Lost again..who mentioned valve springs? A works 2664 wouldnt be running standard valve springs anyway...you wouldnt build an engine with high lift cams using the standard coil springs anyway, as they would coil bind the moment the cam reaches peak lift...Maybe thats why 'some' people have had so many problems in the past...

I thought we were talking about oil supply and breathing, ie a big lump of metal spinning around at very high RPMs called the crank and pistons....Even the standard engines have breathing problems circa 6k, wack another 2k on top...

DG as you say standard springs would be foolish for an uprated engine, you need to uprate accordingly, but either way you need to drop the spring base on the head. Understand 2mm was taken out of mine to accommedate my uprated springs and 'the kevin's' Cam lift .

Old thread I know, but Martin where did the 7800 rpm valve float data come from (and based on what valve), was that from observed / tested data, or else where? I am interested in knowing how accurate this is. I did do some FEA analysis (well had a chap do it for me), based on what I knew, but without the exact material properties you are not going to know that accurately, nor more importantly the minor shape points / forms along the way. I think my number was similar, would have to dig back, but if this is something you can actually point to that would be good?

Pretty sure the 7800rpm was something that Kevin discovered and mentioned at some point. It's funny re-reading this thread now.
